Artist Emek

This is very beautiful art work produced by artist Emek of musician Erykah Badu, I find it very inspirational and thought provoking. His use of graphic illustration and colour is profound! The concepts addressed in his work is represented by Erykah Budu's conscious music, aspects such as metaphysics, Kemetism spirituality and Pan Africanism.

Advancements with 'Nice Cup of Tea'

'A Nice Cup of Tea'
Initial ideas and adaptations

Japanese Tea ceremony
My initial ideas were to create an elegant piece of animation on the art of tea making by looking at the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Looking into this tradion i thought that not only would the aseatetics look elegant by taking influences fron Japanese art, using a specific colour palete and keeping the modellling very elegant and flowing.

Japanses Martial Arts
After reaserching further i thought i would like to expand the idea of looking into Japanese culture and extended this to martials arts and thought that the tea making could be an end result of a Japanese combat through martial arts. The condenders would be fighting in elegant traditional Japanese dress, again keeping the cultureal refernces relevant using the right colour palete and floral print.

Sumo Wrestling
Expanding my inital ideas further i decided that it would be slightly commical to have two sumo wrestlers engaging in combat to win the 'cup of tea'. I think the juxtaposition of the heavily set big robust stature of the sumo wrestlers enging in combat over a cup of elegant herbal tea in polished porcealin would be perhaps more effective. Although this option would allow me to save time through not having to create elegant Japanese dress, i am aware that the rigging of the sumo wrestlers will be more tricky as their limbs will be short and stumpy.

Alice in Wonderland- in 3D!

I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D this week. I'm no film critic but despite the fact that i had to sit directly at the front because the cinema was so full i feel that the film was quite disappointing and left a lot to be desired. All the hysteria surrounding this release and the fact that it was so hyped up meant that the film had a lot to live up to, and so naturally i expected something slightly more spectacular. The animation and special effects i thought was a little disappointing, however the casting, and cinematography i thought was very good and captured the sense of fantasy. Unfortunately that could not escape the weak and loosely put together plot which i feel let it down considerably, i do not think that this is not one of Tim Burton's strongest films and i doubt it would have been as enjoyable if i had not watched it in 3D!

Japanese Tea Ceremony continued...

Continuing to look at the Japanese Tea Ceremony, and related images i quite like the idea of applying Japanese artistic style to my animation. Looking to Japanese art there are fundamental colours that are employed which embodies the culture. ( Black, blue, gold red and white) These being employed the below images.

I feel that the colours employed within these images lends to its oriental feel, and this may be a palette i choose to work with.

Japanese Tea Ceremony

Looking at the Japanese Tea Ceremony....

The intricacy of the utensils used in this ceremony is very elegant and would make for great aesthetics.

The actions carried out by the participant within the tea ceremony itself would make good animation.
